(1864-1929) Bischoff was a painter who received his early training in Northern Bohemia in a crafts school. Later in Vienna, he studied applied design, water color and ceramic art. At age 20, Bischoff came to America and worked as a designer in a china factory, eventually opening studios in Dearborn, Michigan and New York where he produced ceramics and taught classes in china decorating. In 1906, he moved to Southern California where he gained immediate fame and success as an easel painter. His stylistic influences range from Impressionism to Expressionism. His is known for his bold use of color. |
