1828-1882 Rossetti was one of the founding members of the Pre-Rahaelite Brotherhood, a group who sought to challenge the artistic establishment of the mid-Victorian age. He was one of the most influential and admired artists of his time, credited with inventing a whole new type of female beauty. Although painting became his profession, he was an avid poet and sought to instill poetry in his paintings. |
